While Bitcoin and similar digital currencies are familiar to many, the blockchain technology behind it offers possibilities beyond decentralized payments. Regulating the blockchain is on the cutting edge of legal theory and practical regulation.

Patrick Austin, a credentialed and experienced Cybersecurity & Data Privacy attorney, has experience on that front, exploring novel and complex regulatory issues to help protect his clients. As such, we are pleased to announce that Patrick recently contributed to the book Banking [on] Blockchain: A Legal and Regulatory Primer, published by the American Bar Association

Banking [on] Blockchain provides comprehensive guidance on the legal and regulatory landscape around blockchain technology, decentralization, and digital assets within the financial services industry. Patrick co-authored the chapter on privacy and cybersecurity on the blockchain, exploring the security, privacy, and compliance issues financial institutions must consider.

Patrick is a Certified Information Privacy Professional in both U.S. and European law (CIPP/US & CIPP/E) and is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) by International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He is member of the Woods Rogers Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team.
