Richard C. Maxwell Inducted Into Virginia Law Foundation’s Class of Fellows 2020
Woods Rogers’ attorney, Richard C. Maxwell, was inducted into the Virginia Law Foundation’s Class of Fellows 2020. The annual induction ceremony is held during the Virginia Bar Association’s Winter Meeting that took place on January 23-25.
Woods Rogers’ President Dan Summerlin said, “We congratulate Rich on this well-deserved honor. His nomination letters came from other attorneys and community leaders who have worked with him since the early days of his practice. Everyone’s words echoed a common theme—Rich is an attorney of outstanding integrity and character who upholds the standards of our profession.”
Rich has chaired the Business and Corporate Practice section of Woods Rogers for many years. He has also been a leader in bar associations and authored many legal articles.
In addition to his leadership in bar activities, Rich has also been very active in the Roanoke community as a volunteer in philanthropic organizations and in the arts. He has served on the Board and as President of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, taking a leading role in its fundraising. He was instrumental in guiding Roanoke City’s Arts Commission and currently serves on the board of the Clean Valley Council. Among his most significant contributions has been his service on Bedford’s National D-Day Memorial Foundation from 2007 through 2011, where he and a team of dedicated volunteers helped the Memorial resolve key issues and move ahead on a self-sustaining course.”
“I greatly appreciate all the people that had a part of my becoming a Virginia Law Foundation Fellow,” said Rich Maxwell. “I look forward to continuing to serve my firm, my community, and the legal profession in Virginia.”
Rich’s induction is a complement to the list of Woods Rogers Virginia Law Foundation Fellows, including Thomas R. Bagby (2015); Wilbur Lee Hazelgrove (1986); James W. Jennings Jr. (1997); Talfourd H. Kemper (1994); Mark D. Loftis (2008); Heman A. Marshall III (2000), J. Lee E. Osborne (2013); and Robert C. Wood III (1992).
