Jon is a seasoned commercial litigator. His experience includes complex commercial litigation in a broad range of industries, with particular emphasis on financial services, insurance, and real estate.

In his role as Vice-Chair of the firm’s E-Discovery practice, Jon counsels businesses on all aspects of litigation holds, data collection and preservation, and review and production of electronically stored information (ESI). His experience leading significant discovery projects extends to complex litigation in state and federal courts and government investigations.

Prior to joining Woods Rogers in 2019, Jon was a partner in the New York and Washington, D.C. offices of the international law firm Loeb & Loeb LLP, where he practiced commercial litigation for over a decade.

Before attending law school, Jon served in combat with the U.S. Army’s elite 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was deployed four times to Iraq and Afghanistan. His awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Ranger Tab.

Experience

  • Crye Precision LLC v. Bennettsville Printing, 755 Fed. App’x 34 (2d Cir. 2018) – Lead counsel for U.S. Government contractor in a successful defense against claims for breach of contract and Lanham Act violations relating to the plaintiff’s claimed intellectual property. Obtained summary judgment, subsequently affirmed on appeal, and award of attorneys’ fees totaling $367,000.
  • New York Commercial Bank v. Pullo, 2013 Bankr. LEXIS 520 (Bankr. S.D.N.Y. 2013) – Successful representation of secured lender in litigation arising in the context of Chapter 11 bankruptcy of regional oil and gas distributor.
  • Represented national title insurance company against federal and state law claims related to the construction of two high-rise condominium buildings.
  • Represented offshore trust in defense against federal RICO and state law claims.
  • Represented secured lender in litigation to establish priority of client’s mortgage lien against adverse claims of corporate insider.

Pro Bono Work

  • Prevailed on appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims based on the identification of new and material evidence of service-connected post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) overlooked by the Board of Veterans’ Appeals.
  • Won a significant victory on behalf of a combat infantryman with the U.S. Army in France during World War II who was awarded the Purple Heart after suffering a gunshot wound to his leg in 1944.
