Kim works with employers, insurance carriers, and self-insured employers creating preventative strategies and defending workers’ compensation claims under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. She counsels employers and develops workplace strategies for handling employee injuries and works with carriers to obtain speedy and effective resolution of claims. Kim joined Vandeventer Black (now Woods Rogers) in 1989 and has concentrated her practice exclusively in workers’ compensation defense, giving her extensive knowledge and insights regarding the nuances of workers’ compensation law. Kim is detail-oriented and considers all aspects of a case when working with clients.

Prior to attending law school, Kim had a career as a secondary school English teacher. While in law school, she served on the National Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Board.

In addition to practicing law, Kim has had significant community service involvement in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association, People in Need Ministry, Aid Now, the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, the Relay for Life, St. Anne’s-Belfield School, and Galilee Church. She also has extensive experience as a PTA volunteer and served as president of the both the First Colonial High School and Plaza Middle School PTAs while raising her three children.
